Bedroom Makeover Ideas For Cheap

Just secured a nice lease for a house for rent in cyberjaya and you’re itching to start making the place your own? Lived in the same apartment forever and feel like you want a change? We all need to start somewhere, and what better place to start than the bedroom. It is, of course, the last thing we see before we sleep at night and the first thing we see when we wake up in the morning.

As with any home makeover, budget can often be the crippling factor. This may be a dilemma for some, but it does not need to be difficult. You can always give you space a refresh and a revamp without breaking the bank. If your bedroom could stand to be a lot more fab and a little less drab, here are some tips and tricks to give your bedroom a makeover on a budget.

Hook up new hardware

Consider replacing the old handles and pulls on your dressers, drawers and wardrobes with nicer, decorative ones. This simple and low-effort trick can give your bedroom décor a bit of cohesiveness. It also adds personality and style to furniture that is otherwise nondescript and inexpensive.

Have a new headboard

Even the cheapest and simplest bed can be dressed up royally with a nice headboard. A new headboard can give your whole bedroom an instant boost and a serious dose of style without needing to spend a lot. If you have the time and means to do it, you can even make yourself an upholstered one that gives it a more custom and lush vibe.

Dress up the dresser

Why don’t you give your dresser a dress up by adding some statement-making display on top of it? Hang a large print, or even an ornate mirror (which is sure to do double duty), to draw the eye into focus. If large statement pieces are not your thing, you can take the alternate route and hang a cluster of framed family photos.

Clear the clutter

Sometimes, all your bedroom needs is a good tidy-up. Before you go all out with a lipstick makeover, clean up all the clutter. You may find that this is what’s been interfering with the relax and romance of your bedroom. Remove all things that don’t serve a purpose in your boudoir, or at the very least, hide your stress-inducing clutter inside a stylish storage container.

Create a reading corner

If your bedroom has dead space that makes it feel empty, you can consider creating a reading nook. All you need is a nice and cozy armchair, a nice side table with a lamp, and some new books to create a brand-new space. You can put this area to good use on a rainy day and curl up in a blanket with a good book and a cup of tea.

Lay down a rug

A rug is a décor piece that can do wonders in pulling a room together. Consider an oriental rug to really add some interest. However, keep in mind that the rug you choose for your bedroom should be adequately large enough to cover enough floor space. It will work even if your floor is carpeted, as the layering of textures adds even more visual interest.

Get your move on

If you’re finding yourself bored of your current bedroom space, why not shift some furniture or décor pieces around? This slight move can sometimes breathe new life to familiar quarters. Do remember to shake things up once in a while before you get consumed in the monotony of daily life.

Dress up your windows

We all have seen those standard looking shades or blinds. They’re great for temporary use, but what your windows deserve is good treatment. Consider different window treatments, or even layering them with a more transparent curtain underneath. You can add even more wow factor to your windows by adding a nice valance above it.

Bring in a bench

Elevate the chic factor of your bathroom by placing a nice bench at the foot of your bed. There is a myriad of options to choose from: tufted, upholstered, solid wood, or even bamboo. Not only does it offer storage and bonus seating, it gives your bedroom a more put-together feel.

Monitor your pillow population

Instead of the standard number of pillows, play around with number and size. If you only have two standard-sized pillows, think about adding two or three different smaller sized pillows in different shades or patterns (in twos of course). However, do be sure that they don’t take up more than half of your bed.

Bring in something vintage

Having some pieces of unique furniture is always a plus point. However, if you don’t have the time to change up the finish of an existing piece or DIY an existing piece, you can always purchase something new that is old. Look for vintage, one-of-a-kind, pieces. They aren’t always expensive. Look for pieces that have some wear and tear, as this adds a kind of lived-in feel that is sure to add a shabby-chic vibe.

Hang a romantic canopy

Your bedroom should be the ultimate serene escape for you. To achieve a more romantic vibe, you can consider hanging a flowing canopy that is not only part glamourous but part bohemian as well. It’s also useful in that it can keep mosquitoes at bay, letting you enjoy a night’s sleep peacefully.

Make the room come to life

Houseplants are a good way to add some color to your space. They generate oxygen during the day and do wonders in removing toxins from the air. Fiddle leaf figs and orchids seem to be ubiquitous and the in-trend hot houseplants. However, if you don’t have a green thumb, do ask your local nursery which plants are the hardest to kill.
