I believe the answer is yess..at least most of us..
and for me..yes I am...after all dlm zmn moden ni, serba-serbi pun nak tgk ...one of the important impression and assesment is ...if a person is able to converse in English, with confidence..
me masa undergrad days..tak de lah practise sgt ckp omputih ni..tp bila me start my 1st job (keje kat bank-UOB). ha, time tu memang penting bebenor lah nak kena fasih English ni...sbb colleagues 95% chinese, so are the bank customers and solicitors..
then me join UIA as lecturer, huh, lagi lah...sbb kena bagi lecture 100% in English...so Alhamdulillah, even tak terer pun, setakat ckp2 biasa tu oklah
and kalau boleh, me memang nak my kids proficient in English ni...me start hantar zharfan masuk Q-dees masa dia umur 3 thn, tp sbb tak larat nak hantar (lokasi +timing agak tak sesuai), so separuh jln jer usaha me tu..Zharfan masuk nursery uia akhirnya sbb senang me nak antar-amik..
and being here in UK, Alhamdulillah, now dh 5 bln Zharfan masuk radford primary school ni, he is so confident to converse in English, though still with limited vocab, tp simple2 sentences memang dh fluentlah, and confident jer dia chat2 dgn kwn2 sebaya dia :) :) kat rumah pun, byk jugak dia guna bahasa ni (me dgn hubby bknnya ckp omputih kat umah:p) mostly he imitates and copied what he learnt and heard in school, from is teacher and peers :)
saya pun amat berharap anak2 fluent dalam BI walau saya ne pun terkial2
ReplyDeletetapi saya percaya kalau nak fasih bahasa asing kita kena dikelilingi org yg mmg gunakan bahasa itu..itu lebih mudah spt yg zahfran lalui sekarang..
bahasa apa2pon kena prektis sokmo..prektis makes perfect :)
ReplyDeleteme suke sgt British accent
ReplyDeletebagusnyer zharfan ..
ReplyDeletesaya akan usahakan speaking chinese lepas ni ... keh keh keh ...
mmg nak sgt...
ReplyDeletetp kene balance la ilmu dunia akhirat...
mmg nak anak boleh ckp english...hehe..ibu ushakan insyaAllah...tahniah kt zharfan ^O^ pandainye die
ReplyDeletewaaaahhh... pandainya zharfan.... sangat berazam supaya sumayyah pandai english... jgn jadik macam mama dia nih... hehehehe
ReplyDeletesuzz : i pun sangat2 berharap dania fluent in english. I would say Dania is more confident than me before and tak sia2 i hantar Dania gi Julia Gabriel since she's 3 years old. Yang pada mulanyer Dania 0 english knowledge. Teacher tunjuk gambar airplane dania dengan confident cakap KAPAL TERBANG. He he he. :-) n sometimes Dania converse in English dengan rakan sebaya sampai ada sorang my malay friend anak dia kata tak paham apa Dania cakap. Last Last dia hantar anak dia ke Tadika Eden Subang Jaya and anak dia boleh converse in english. guess what? dia cakap kat mummy dia (my friend). Now Daanya boleh cakap dengan Dania dah. Dannya dah tau cakap Bahasa Inggeris. Nama dier pun pronounce as Dania. Ejaan lain Daanya.
